Gullah characters

The Gullah are African Americans who live in the coastal Low Country regions of SC and GA. They are known for preserving more of their African linguistic and cultural heritage than any other African American community in the US. Their enormous contributions to the prosperity of this area continue to this day. My Gullah Characters pay homage to their distinct and proud culture.

Story behind the art

As a Character artist, I often begin by painting a scene where my Characters are pictured in their milieu. The originals are available for purchase. I reproduce a limited amount of selected paintings on quality card stock paper, numbered and signed. Cards come in various sizes and are suitable for framing or mailing. Each Card, and every Character, has a story to tell, or a Low Country recipe to share that communicates the richness of their history and culture.
